Panel 1: Most of the comics writers I knew back in the day referred to the punctuation seen with "JOURNEY--" as "double dashes," but my editor insists those are actually hyphens, not dashes. Maybe so, as I definitely use the hyphen key on the keyboard when I'm indicating 'em in typewritten form.
Could be more confusing, I suppose, as back during Dirty Pair: SimHell, I briefly used em dashes—you know, these longer dealies—as well as so-called "double dashes" in my dialogue; the former were used to indicate suddenly interrupted or cut-off dialogue, while regular "double dashes" were used to indicate very brief, distinctly Frank Miller-inspired pauses in chains of intense speech or thoughts. (I soon dropped the ol' em dash from my comics work, but certainly do love to use it more than ever online nowadays—as you may have noticed by now.)
Next week on the webcomic serialization, we'll get a long, steamy gawk at Ghost Writer's book proposal for Emp. Yay!
Today’s Patreon update: In an attempt to scratch out more worktime to
complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over
to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the
fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post
might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels
content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or
something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design
departments, or possibly something entirely new. Golly!
