Panel 1: Gotta say I still like the neologisms "bioavalanche" and "xenomalignant." On that front, an amusing bit from the 2019 one-shot I wrote, Venom: The End: Turns out that Marvel proofreading was not at all prepared from the barrage of neologisms I threw at 'em over the course of that story's 30-odd pages. Ne'er before had I ever seen that many question marks on a lettering proof, to put it mildly.

In fairness, many of the terms in that Venom one-off were of my own invention, but just as many were, well, "old" neologisms entirely familiar to readers of SF or speculative pop-sci writing; I really would've thought Marvel proofers would've encountered most of those terms before. (Oh, well.)

Along those lines, folks, I do have another upcoming Marvel one-off story I wrote, penciled & inked for the October 19 release of the horror-anthology title Crypt of Shadows. 'Tis a mere 7-pager, but the story technically covers an even longer timeframe than the sprawlingly epic Venom: The End, which is really saying something. (Working title: "Wolverine/ Man-Thing: Endless Slaughter in the Infinite Swamp.")

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design departments, or possibly something entirely new. Golly!
