And lo, finally, by this point in vol. 9's spacefaring sequence, I figured out a viable technique for the scene's panel gutter format—that is, my usual solid black bands, but with white outlines around their inner edges. Pretty sure I ruled out inked lines for the edges of black spaces, then erased along the edge of a sheet of copy paper for the penciled portions.

Note that the quick & easy black gutters I normally use throughout Empowered often run into problems when depicting imagery heavy on on dark spaces like those in this scene. (No wonder that most manga artists often use filled-in black gutters only to visually denote flashback sequences.)

Panel 1: Emp is, of course, referring to this scene from back in vol. 8, and/or its recollection earlier in this very volume.

BTW, I'm quite fond of how this panel's vertical panorama worked out, with the teeny motes of Emp and her captors dwarfed by the alien war machine looming up from underneath them in a manner akin to the iconic Jaws movie poster.

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design departments, or possibly something entirely new. Golly!
