Panel 5: Vocabulary sticklers will notice that Emp uses the term "disinterest" in the modern sense of "lack of interest," as opposed to the older and, it seems, now "formal" sense of "the fact of having no involvement in or receiving no special advantage or good from a situation or event." (That version seems to have been fading away since I was a young lad, for good or ill.) Still, even if this was an appropriate contemporary flourish, I probably should've substituted "lack of interest" in its place, as this usage still attracts my notice every g-d time I read this page.
