Given that I used to swing by San Antonio fairly often in the 90s and early 2000s to visit friends there, I could no doubt have tried to draw real-life buildings for this shot but ehh, screw that.

Another high-contrast, "harsh B&W" shot, as I am wont to do on occasion. Interestingly, while I've done plenty of similar shots in recent Empowered volumes (including the current one), I now prefer to add some degree of pencil shading to images like these, rather than leaving the artwork "ink-only."

Next week, we wrap up this Thugboy interlude with another shockingly abrupt scene change before moving on to the action-packed penultimate seqment of Empowered vol.8's first-half anthology story.

Today’s Patreon Update: As I did last month, I'm taking off the third week of April from putting up new Patreon content, as I just can't keep up an every-weekday posting schedule while struggling to make progress on Empowered vol.12. However, my vast archive of years of Patreon posts—extensive Empowered previews, vintage con sketches, work stages on covers, "damsel in distress" commissions, life drawings & much, much more—remains available for Patrons' perusal. Next Monday, regular Patreon service resumes!
