As I sit here able to type (hunting & pecking with my middle finger) but not able to draw due to index finger pain, I'm reminded of the dozen or so other chronic but normally transient drawing-hand pains that periodically afflict me. One of the more rare and exotic hand issues cropped up near the the end of this story as, after months of high-speed production and hardcore art grinding, a patch of skin on the side of my hand would just... wear out.
Honestly, compared to my current, pretty much debilitating state of index-finger pain, the "worn-out patch" on the side of my hand was easily ameliorated by just slapping a wee, circular bandage over it. That minor ailment, though, was a warning sign that I'd jacked up my work hours too high for too many months, and that I'd need to wrap up the current project soon and dial back to a less punishing workload.
I sincerely doubt I'll ever experience the "worn patch" again, though, as the months of high-level grinding necessary to trigger it aren't something I'll ever achieve in the foreseeable future, as I have quite a few more responsibilities (and even, Heaven forfend, non-work interests) than I did in 2013.
