Panel 1: Yeahp, that’s what this chapter’s title—“A First Time for Everything”—was referring to. With this scene, we’re seeing a flashback to the very first time that Emp’s supersuit was ever damaged—and, as she notes in panel 4, the first time that the hypermembrane’s superpowers abandoned her.

Panel 5: I leave it to the nitpicking-prone reader to figure out why “Babs” was carrying duct tape; I also leave it to the reader to guess the full supranym of “Babs” before its imminent reveal, which I don’t think is all that tough to surmise. (On the other hand, a supervill whose full supranym was, in fact, “Babs” would be pretty damn amusing.)
