Also, without straying too far into SPOILER territory, must admit that Empowered vol. 7’s incessant cutaways and sporadic returns to the Ayakami warehouse scene are gonna be verrrrry hard to keep up with over the next 40-odd weeks of the book’s daily serialization. (Let alone keeping track of certain crucial details and key set-ups within this scene, alas.) Welp, my insincere apologies in advance, webcomic readers, as this particular installment was absolutely not intended to be consumed in such an excruciatingly protracted manner. Feel free to buy the actual volume, though—only $4.99!—if you want the ideal reading experience. (Note, by the way, that all Empowered volumes in digital form are are 50% off through the end of April, I believe.)

Panel 4: A pretty good shot of Distressed Damsel Ninjette, here, but the randomly appearing stylistic flourish of her cartoonishly oversized head I do find a bit disconcerting. (Her figure proportions remind me of Female Ranma, gotta say.) That’s rather interesting, as soon enough this sporadic exaggeration riff would largely disappear from my work.
