Behold, a callback to the “uppity alien organs” seen a few times earlier in this volume. It’s all coming together, folks! The term “pseudo-organ,” by the way, refers to the idea that these are theoretically distinct lifeforms that serve organ-like purposes when incorporated into a larger xenobiological colony organism. 

Whoops! At the bottom of the page, you can see that the scanner nipped off the bottom edge of the original page, clipping the underline off the word “SKIT” in that one word balloon down there. The Empowered format, alas, is none too forgiving of dialogue lettered too g-d low on the comic page.
