Panel 1: The song selection of this club’s karaoke set-up must be vast indeed, given that Joe Esposito’s immortal “You’re the Best” from The Karate Kid—1984 version, natch—is not a song often encountered in such a context. (Then again, a later Empowered volume mentions that Sleater-Kinney’s song “You’re No Rock and Roll Fun” is also in the club’s system, which seems even more unlikely.)

Panel 5: As we see, Emp is recklessly switching from mixed drinks to beers to shots—many shots, apparently—over the course of this page’s drinking montage. Spoiler alert: This bold approach will not wind up being a favorable one for our heroine.
