Panel 2: Tilting the panel clockwise helpfully disguises the visual cheat I used in this shot, given that Havoc should be standing taller in this shot; however, I didn't feel like sizing down the figures of both Havoc and Emp in this panel to depict correct relative heights, so I went ahead and used a "cropping cheat."
Panel 5: Pretty sure (but not entirely certain) that depicting the energy beams emerging from Havoc's mouth as well as his eyes was inspired by the striking image of mystical baddie Lo Pan similarly deploying magical powers in John Carpenter's classic Big Trouble in Little China.
