Volume 11 Page 78

Here, another very heavily inked page, with the only pencil work being drawn on parts of Emp and applied over the inks as overlay tones; I can also guarantee that nearly "all-inked" pages like this one would've been extraordinarily time-consuming to produce, as I allowed my exacting perfectionist streak to consume my artwork for this volume. (Er, seemed like a good idea at the time, I guess.)

Panels 2-3: In a very similar approach to the Vorpal Sword piercing the gates of Hell back in Empowered vol. 8, I relied on sound FX to convey the Phallospear plowing through the facility's wall. While this definitely is a time-saving approach as opposed to a more visual-based take on the action, I do nonetheless appreciate the subjective, "Emp's POV" quality of this riff. (IMHO, all too many superhero comics—or fantasy media of any genre, really—miss out on storytelling opportunities by downplaying just how freaky and alarming most of the fantastic phenomena being depicted would seem to the individuals experiencing said phenomena.)

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. However, my vast archive of years of Patreon posts—extensive Empowered previews, work-in-progress updates on developmental projects such as fantasy comics The Chaste and the Chained and The Last Party, vintage con sketches, work stages on covers, "damsel in distress" commissions, life drawings & much, much more—remains available for Patrons' perusal.
