Panel 1: Note the narratively significant winch and block WHOOOSHing about, folks, as first set up a few pages back.
I'm quite fond of how this panel (and page as a whole) worked out, though I do recall that I needed to try out many different printouts of the crane's 3D model before finding one that worked with my existing composition for the panel.
Panels 2-4: Enjoy a brief return of my once-beloved "tilty panel borders," dear readers! I used to use such angled page layouts aaaalllll the time in my pre-Empowered comics work, both to add a bonus dash of compositional dynamism and also to eke out a wee bit of extra space for a given panel's artwork elements. (Empowered comic pages are mostly based on a grid-like template marked out into fifths, quarters and thirds, so such "angly" approaches are much rarer here.)
Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out
more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12,
I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that
won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what
today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed
Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per
month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design
departments, or possibly something entirely new, such as updates on
fantasy test project The Chaste and the Chained. Golly!
