Volume 11 Page 50

With this week's commentaries, I'll attempt to revisit the workflow stoppage that occurred twenty-odd pages ago when I suddenly became myself unable to force Artist Me to draw any more pages of finished artwork for the book, which luckily hadn't yet "gone on the schedule" and thus made an indefinite pause in production possible.

UPDATE: Nope, gotta interrupt our previously scheduled rambling to critique 2017 Me a wee bit!

Panel 1: Note that I completely bungled Emp's grip on that stanchion thingie in comparison to how she was latching on to it in the previous page's final panel. Somehow, I just couldn't quite visualize the transition from that page's action to this one, hence the rather awkward results. In retrospect, no idea why the hell I didn't depict Emp as slamming down onto the crane's framework belly-down, as opposed to face-up as seen here; taking the former approach would've jibed much better with the previous page's action, needless to say. (Not like I'm normally opposed to depicting Emp from behind, also needless to say.) Guess I just really, really wanted to attempt to convey the kinda-sorta "flipping" motion I had in mind for this one panel.

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. However, my vast archive of years of Patreon posts—extensive Empowered previews, work-in-progress updates on developmental projects such as fantasy comics The Chaste and the Chained and The Last Party, vintage con sketches, work stages on covers, "damsel in distress" commissions, life drawings & much, much more—remains available for Patrons' perusal.
