This week I worked up an issue's worth of roughs for an as-yet-unapproved story that will be my first written-for-another-artist comic script since, jeez, that Venom: The End special I did for Marvel back in 2019. Wellp, at least I went out with a bang, as that one-shot was probably the best-reviewed comic I've ever written (that I didn't also draw, that is); even more impressive, Venom actually cracked the top 10 in issue sales for that month after strong reorder numbers, I gather. Lordy loo! (Alas, as is usually the case for me, this single brief success led to no other writing opportunities.)

Note, BTW, that working up roughs before my g-d plot synopsis was even approved by the editor was, of course, a wildly premature and irresponsible course of action, but y'know what? I just felt like doing something creatively constructive (if potentially futile) as a change of pace from months of struggling unsuccessfully with art tests for the seemingly mythical "viable hybrid workflow." Yay?

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design departments, or possibly something entirely new, such as updates on fantasy test project The Chaste and the Chained. Golly!
