Panel 1: Lordy loo, another example of "two different actions in a single panel" as we see double images of Emp springing back to her feet! IIRC, this is a riff borrowed pretty directly from a single moment in an obscure martial-arts manga titled Kenji that I read back in the mid-to-late 80s, a riff that seems to have indelibly lodged in my memory over the long decades since.
Panel 5: While that might seem like a pretty g-d brutal strike on ol' Gooey Samaritan, attentive readers might remember that this Superdead character apparently regenerated from nothing but a severed head after the end of Empowered vol. 6.
Next week on the webcomic serialization, brace for impact as events take an unfortunate turn for our beleaguered heroine...
Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out
more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12,
I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that
won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what
today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed
Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per
month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design
departments, or possibly something entirely new, such as updates on
fantasy test project The Chaste and the Chained. Golly!
