Panel 2: Oddly enough, the term "tatterdemalion" will for me always be associated with the DC character Ragman, nicknamed "The Tattered Tatterdemalion" and co-created by my late teacher Joe Kubert. BTW, no idea why I would know that nickname, as I read very few DC titles back in my comic-reading childhood and certainly never read an issue of Ragman. Mysterious!
