Panels 3-5 are based on a highly amusing scene from the old Makoto Kobayashi manga Heba! Hello-chan, aka Club 9 once translated into English by Studio Proteus and Dark Horse Comics back in the early 2000s. Over at this linked review, you can see the Club 9 page preceding the actual page I homaged in this Empowered scene, as a pair of newbie Tokyo bar hostesses are instructed in proper strutting and booty-shaking by a more experienced club girl.

Next week, we see the initial emotional aftermath of Emp's promotion as our heroine makes a tearful phone call in a difficult-to-draw setting. Yay?

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design departments, or possibly something entirely new.
