Panel 1: I was about to state that this final Empowered vol. 10 chapter derives its title—"Listen to Me, Elissa"—from Thugboy's first word balloon in this panel, but belatedly remembered that this was not, in fact, the case. Rather, a similar line of dialogue from a different character will prove to be the basis of that title, as you will see shortly, dear readers.

Panel 3: I rather like the idea that Thugboy has so thoroughly walled off any thought of the real issue he's hiding from Emp—as in, his anti-cape activities relating to the San Antonio disaster, six years ago—that he's not even consciously aware that this panel's statement is untrue.
