Panel 3: Enjoy a 2009-vintage skinnier, bigger-headed Emp, dear readers!

UPDATE: For the record, the paragraph that follows isn't grousing about said vintage character design or the artwork at all, really:

Gotta say, I'm now somewhat regretting not having posted these one-shots when they appeared in the series' progress, as jumping back a decade from the creative and artistic heights of 2019's Empowered vol. 11 all the way back to this 2009 story has been a rather jarring experience for me. (Dunno if you folks might feel the same, though.)

UPDATE (cont.): Rather, I'm more annoyed by my storytelling and narrative choices in this story (such as the frequent overdialoguing and the apartment's uninspired, sitcommy staging that now bugs me a fair bit). I don't mind seeing the skinnier, bigger-headed Emp design style of yore, but that's just not how I prefer to draw her nowadays; you'll just have to deal with my changing artistic habits and preferences, dear readers (though you won't actually see said changing preferences again until the distant serialization of Empowered vol. 12 after Unchained and two more full-color miniseries).

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. However, my vast archive of years of Patreon posts—extensive Empowered previews, work-in-progress updates on developmental projects such as fantasy comics The Chaste and the Chained and The Last Party, vintage con sketches, work stages on covers, "damsel in distress" commissions, life drawings & much, much more—remains available for Patrons' perusal.
