We continue serialization of the collected version of the three-issue 2017 miniseries Empowered and the Soldier of Love, written and laid out by me and featuring full-color artwork by the Chilean webcomic artist Karla Diaz.

Remember the "all-white gutters" approach that I blithered about on Monday, as an aesthetically pleasing riff I like to use on full-coior comics whenever possible? Wellp, look closely at the word balloons in panels 4 & 5, and you'll see that ace letterer Nate "Blambot" Piekos is taking advantage of the borderline-free gutters by placing the balloons' text much closer to the edge of the panel than would be possible if said panels had the standard black outlines. This allows him to place the word balloons farther away from the characters speaking 'em (and covering up less of their artwork) than would otherwise be viable, see?

Today’s Patreon update: Originally done as a means of scratching out more worktime to complete the long-gestating Empowered vol. 12, I've switched over to a Monday/ Wednesday/ Friday Patreon posting schedule that won't feature the fixed content format I previously used. So, who knows what today's post might feature? Could be Life Drawing or Distressed Damsels content (both of which are featured at least three times per month), or something in the Work Stages, Vintage Con Sketches or Design departments, or possibly something entirely new, such as updates on fantasy test projects The Last Party and The Chaste and the Chained. Golly!
